Climate Change
Scientists, environmentalists, corporate leaders, politicians, and now citizens agree. Pollutants in our atmosphere appear to be contributing to climate change.
It is believed this can make temperatures rise or fall and cause severe weather disturbances – affecting the growth of our crops, population of sea life and other food sources. If this happens, human existence will not be the same as we know it today.
The big culprit is carbon dioxide. As more carbon dioxide is produced and enters our atmosphere, the crisis of Global Warming becomes closer.
Effectively managing this complex issue will be the challenge of our time.
The Challenge:
- Air quality concerns such as smog and acid rain are issues that primarily affect the lowest part of the atmosphere within the zone of air we breathe.
- Ground level ozone and fine particulate matter have been linked to negative health impacts (i.e. respiratory problems, cardiovascular diseases).
- Greenhouse Gases (GHG) affect long-term changes in the climate. This alters the chemical composition of the atmosphere impacting global climate conditions.
- Carbon Dioxide represents about 80% of Canada's total Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions. Of this, "moving people and goods accounted for 19% of Canada's GHG emissions in 2004" (propanefacts.ca).
The Sparling's Solution. Starting Today.
Propane is one immediate solution. It is affordable, practical, domestically produced and is delivered to you through a proven, flexible and responsive infrastructure.
Sparling's is Clean. And Efficient.
Propane is "Green Energy" that homeowners and business operators can use to improve air quality and help protect the environment.
Pollutants like carbon monoxide, nitrous oxide and chlorofluorocarbons are three of the primary dangerous chemicals that contaminate the clear air that we breathe.
By comparison, propane fueled engines are so clean and are so low in emissions that they are safe to power forklifts, ice re-surfacers and other industrial machines - indoors!
Sparling's is Low in Other Pollutants.
Using the clean energy of Sparling's instead of coal, fuel oil, gasoline, diesel, wood, electricity, natural gas, E10 and E85 can help reduce this severe environmental threat of challenge of climate change.
For example:
- A clean-burning propane fireplace emits 40 times fewer emissions than a wood-burning fireplace (NPGA 10-06)
- Propane vehicles create 60-70% less smog.
- Compared to gasoline, propane yields about 20% less nitrous oxide and as much as 60^ less carbon dioxide (World LP Gas Commission 01-03, California Energy Commission 01-03).
- A propane vehicle creates up to 26% less greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) than a comparable conventional gasoline vehicle (Ivey 06-08).
- Propane cuts emissions of toxins and carcinogens by up to 96% (SW Research Institute).

Sparling's Propane is Clean Energy. For Living.
Most would admit that looking forward to our energy and environmental future - and our children's future - is difficult to do during the day-to-day focus of our lives. But the good news is that each of us can make a difference.
And we can make a difference without dramatically altering our ultra-convenient 21st century lifestyles - by making the switch to Sparling's in our homes, our workplaces, our fleets and our communities.
And that's the Clean Truthâ„¢.
